Industry Standards

You can help to shape tomorrow’s standards for the bearings industry by joining ABMA’s active B3 Technical Committee, which is made up of bearing manufacturers and end users. ABMA is an ANSI-accredited standards developer (ASD). By signing up to be a part of B3 committee, you and your team will have a seat at the table to network and mold the future of the industry with other bearing experts.

You can learn about committee work and current activities by contacting a member of our technical department at [email protected].

What You Need to Know

ABMA membership is the only requirement for participation on a Technical Committee. Committee membership has two levels of participation: Observer and Active.

All new committee members start as an observer member. An observer member is not a voting member but may participate in committee activities. Observer members will receive notices of meetings and minutes, and only upon request will receive drafts of standards.

An active member is a representative of a member company that regularly attends meetings, accepting and performing work assigned by the chairperson. Only active members will be considered in determining a quorum and have a vote on committee activities.

Committee meetings are either held face-to-face or via web conferencing. Face-to-face meetings are generally held over the course of two days at an easily accessible location or a member’s facility. Web conferences are generally two hours long and usually start at either 10:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m. Eastern time.
